XRCamp After School, Unit 3, Day 2

Finish Your Character

Today you finish your hero: how they look, what they carry, and a first 3D version.

Grab your Character Building Outline from last week. This page saves your work on this laptop, so use the same one next week.

Your mission today

  1. Guess a hero's personality from their shadow.
  2. Pick 3 traits and watch your hero change.
  3. Finish your hero sheet: colors, a special power, and 5 special items.
  4. Make a prompt for a 3D version of your hero.
  5. Tell a partner about your hero.
  6. Become your hero: make your avatar on the platform.

Step 1

Shapes Tell the Story

You can learn a lot about a hero from their shadow. Big square shapes look strong. Round shapes look friendly. Pointy shapes look quick or tricky.

The test: turn off the colors. If you can still tell who it is, the shape is doing its job.

Who is it?

Look at each shadow. Is it a Guardian, a Trickster, or a Mentor?

Step 2

Turn Traits into Looks

Your hero's personality shows in their shape and color. A brave hero gets bold colors and strong shapes. A shy hero gets soft colors and round shapes.

Pick 3 traits. Watch your hero change.

Shape language: pick a trait to start.

    Step 3

    Finish Your Hero Sheet

Copy what you wrote last week, then fill in the empty boxes. Every item tells a story: a scar or a patched jacket shows what your hero has been through.

    The basics

Traits: pick 3 in section 2.

    Colors

Pick a main color, a color that pops, and a calm color to balance them.

      Draw, sculpt, or write

Sheet done? Bring your hero to life one of these ways.

DrawSketch 5 shadow shapes, circle your favorite, then draw it with all 5 items.
SculptBuild your hero in clay or paper. Use the shapes from step 2.
WriteWrite a scene where your hero uses their special power and one item.

Share one item and its story.

      Step 4

      Make a 3D Draft

An AI tool can turn words into a rough 3D model. Your sheet already has the words. Your prompt writes itself below.

Fill in your sheet in section 3 to build your prompt.

The AI only makes a first try. If it gets something wrong, your sheet wins. Soon you'll build your hero yourself in Tinkercad, shape by shape.

How your hero gets into your world

Your instructor runs the AI tool. You don't need an account.

      1. Copy your prompt and give it to your instructor.
      2. Your instructor makes the draft with Meshy and saves it as a .glb file.
      3. Open your project in XR Creator Studio.
      4. Open Resources, then the Assets tab, and click Add to upload the file.
      5. Drag your hero into the scene. Move, turn, and resize it.
      6. If the Studio asks to shrink the model, pick Create a Copy.

      Step 5

      Share Your Hero

Introduce your hero like you're telling a friend: where they're from, what they want, and what they're like.

Tell us about your hero in 2 or 3 sentences.

      Guessing game

Show your hero to a partner, but don't say your traits. Can they guess one just by looking? If not, what would you change?

      Step 6 · Play

      Become Your Hero

Time to step inside the platform as your hero. Build an avatar that matches your sheet.

      How to make your avatar

      1. Open GoGator with the button below. Type your camp nickname if it asks.
      2. Click the user icon in the top left corner.
      3. Click Change Avatar.
      4. Open My Avatars and click Add Avatar.
      5. Pick the first option in the list.
      6. Make it look like your hero. Use your card above.
      7. Save it with your hero's name.

      Match check

Tell the class about your avatar.

      Next week

Next week you design your hero's home: the colors, the light, and a floor plan you build on the platform.

      Keep your sheet

Your sheet is saved on this laptop. Tap "Copy my sheet" and paste it somewhere safe too, just in case.
